I just got asked what's with the Weekend Reads. Honestly? I forgot if was Friday! π That's what happens when you're unemployed. Or a freelancer, as we like to put it. π Well, I hope you have a great weekend ahead of you, regardless of what you think of the news and current affairs. I plan to relax and then do some work as well—because weekends don't exist when you're unemployed. Or a freelancer. Have a good one!

Well, I guess the time has slowed down again—I mean, has taken its usual pace, because as we all know, it's crazy rapid. The temperatures are awful and I dread leaving my warm studio apartment. That means: more time for freelance work, more time for movies, books, and of course, the Internetz. So, here goes.

When you think of 2017, what do you see?
I don't know exactly. I was sure my 2015 would be better than 2014, and it didn't happen. I believed I could make 2016 anything I wanted it to be, but it sucked big time. So I'm now being cautious and not setting an intention of a great year. But if I can stick to my resolutions and just do some little things I will enjoy, it cannot be a bad one. So, here's what I'm looking forward to this year. Anything you can think of? Think small. Think big. There are probably some awesome things, or just nice things, that are ahead of you.
Spoiler alert: mine are not burgers, despite what the featuring photo says. But then again...

The post-NYE days are slow and so am I. Also, living alone means there's no heaps of food so I'm missing out on the magic—BUT only for a couple more days, as I'm going home for Christmas. (We celebrate it two weeks later.) Food and family, yay! I might have just reached that age where that's enough for happiness. However, I won't let myself be super lazy, and when I'm lazy, I'll make sure I at least read or watch something. So, here are my New Year's resolutions for 2k17. (Also: check out this post where I stated some of the NY resolutions you might borrow. You'll see I did too. π)

Another round of Weekend Reads! Only this time, instead of bombing you with new stuff you'll be too busy to read (hey, no judging! It's New Year's after all), I decided to remind you of the best things you could have read on Wandering Polka Dot so far on weekends. So without further ado, let's roll!

Apparently, I'm not a woman of a plan. What a hideous way to start off a post that talks about New Year's goals. No, wait, don't go!
I mean, I was; I made a detailed schedule for the blog and felt committed to it—only to fall ill just in time to not finish those posts that needed to be finished, let alone follow the schedule. Heck, I didn't even open my laptop. I felt I should say goodbye to everything and everyone, as the previous couple of nights were pretty heavy on me. (I hate getting sick. I never do. And then I do and then I freak out.)
Anyway, here's something I think you would find useful. If you're a New Year's resolutions freak like I am, but you're not sure what goals you could set for yourself, check this out. Nothing is too demanding, yet it might help you in your everyday life, or just make you feel like you own it. Or make you actually own it. π

I wrote an introduction to this post yesterday, stating This time I'm actually NOT posting from the train, even though I'm leaving my apartment in mere minutes to catch one. False. I am typing this out on a train. Trying out discipline and finishing the post on a Thursday. This is true though—but I obviously need to try more, and, like, wake up on time. I have so much to do by the end of the year—you might remember this list—and of course I do, you probably do too. I constantly keep on pushing myself and making myself do more and more, and it's been years of trying to get to the point where I've done it all. It's just that along the way I keep adding more and more tasks. By the way, I'm in no way trying to brag about this—I actually hate that it's so. And on top of everything, I lack self-discipline. Do you think it's a personality trait or not? I wish I could train myself, but just end up thinking oh no it's just the way I am. I'd love to hear your thoughts! This is all true. Woe is me!
Anyway, here are some interesting links for this week.
Oh, and have a very merry Christmas if you're celebrating! I wish you a blessed holiday with your family and friends.

Hi there, and if by any chance you stopped by WPD two days ago in search for your weekly dose of information and inspiration, sorry! Remember that list of things I wanted to do by the end of the year? When you add it to an endless stream of job applications, things can get complicated. So here they are, a tad later than they were supposed to be. A lot of videos today!
