Bloggers deserve a break sometime. That's all I'm ever saying about the last week's missed #WeekendReads, and I hope you forgive me. (Of course you do, I doubt anyone even noticed the lack of the post, but I guess we're a bit vain sometimes.) So here are my favorites of this week. Hop on and enjoy the ride!

Just like reading makes a (better) writer, reading blogs makes a better blogger. Or maybe it doesn't, but it's just given: if you blog, it means you read other blogs. A lot of them. Sometimes you have troubles limiting the amount of information you devour on the daily basis, but hey, it's just one of the sides of blogging. From personal entries, blogs have become much, much more. There's a crazy amount of usefulness you can find on various blogs. You lack ideas of what to make for lunch, want to go to a vacation somewhere cheap but nice, wonder what you could do to brighten up your walls or desk, have an idea for a business but don't know how to get there... Don't worry, someone has probably blogged about it and shared the wisdom! But what you will do once you discover their range of other awesome topics and posts... that's up to you. No, I'm not grinning, and yes, you're an adult who knows what they're doing *wink*
Anyway, because sharing is caring, I wanted to share some of my favorite travel blogs. Whether you're looking for information or just amazing photos, they more often than not have both. Plus the people behind them are usually awesome, so you'll enjoy reading them.

Hello there,
What are you up to this weekend? I'm hoping to get done with the preparations for my experiment and finally get things started next week. It's taking a lot more time than I'd expected and it's also making me super anxious. I like it best when I'm the only person responsible for something I have to do. Also, I need to finish my June stories for Feather Mag—you can read my published stories here. I was hoping to hand them in more than 24 hours before the deadline, but something was wrong with the connection between my thoughts and my fingertips. Alyssa, if you're reading this, don't worry, I'll be on time :)
Anyway, here are the Weekend Reads, I hope you like them! (Also, if you're an animated movies fan, check out my yesterday's post!)

I remember, once as a kid, I read somewhere that roughly only 20% of world's consumption of ice-cream is eaten by children. It came as a shock surprise to me: why on Earth would adults eat ice-cream that much, it's children's food?! Growing up, the realization of the obvious was inevitable. Of course we love ice-cream and are not giving it up! There is a number of things that are reserved for children, or maybe more appropriate for them, but I decide that age has nothing to do with them. One of these is cartoons and animated videos. From time to time I really wish for a Disney marathon - and nothing anyone says will persuade me I'm too old for that! Luckily, in the past decade or so people making animated movies realized that adults are a big part of their audience, so turned to making stuff that is appealing to them as well. Not that I'm saying The Lion King isn't, but, you know.

I hate it when I'm late with Weekend Reads so it doesn't really make sense to ask you what you are up to for the weekend, because half of it was already gone. What have you been doing yesterday, then, and what are you up today? I think I rested a bit too much, because I'm overwhelmed with how much work I have to do, but you know those days when you just don't want to can't get out of the bed? Yeah, yesterday was such a day. Hopefully today I'm in full swing again.

Hi there, people, can you believe it's May already?! I know!! How was your last week? Done anything interesting yesterday for the Labor day? I stayed in and enjoyed barbecue made by my Dad. That's pretty close to a perfect celebration, actually :)

You might have noticed that I skipped last week's Weekend Reads. I was in Novi Sad, a town in Serbia, at my sister's, also meeting a bunch of friends and attending a course at the University followed by a conference, followed by my computer simply refusing to do anything. As if I didn't have enough trouble just not having a regular internet connection! (My sister doesn't have wifi in her flat but cable, cable that for, reasons unknown to most humans, does nothing when attached to my laptop. I don't think people at a certain pub in Novi Sad think I'm particularly cool, going there almost every day alone to work. I haven't really noticed anyone doing that in Serbia, apart from its capital.)

If you stumbled upon
this li’l blog of mine last spring, you could have probably thought that I was
leading this out-of-the-suitcase life. In a way I did, it lasted for about two
months and I never slept in the same bed for more than five days. I covered six
countries and twice as many cities, packing on Thursdays, unpacking on Mondays,
and repeating it all over again. It was exciting, but also hectic, and hell, tiring.
In the end I had troubles separating memories from different places, because it
all seemed like a continuum with blurry lines in between. That coffee with a
view, was it in Zurich or in Paris? That open square where we spent a sunny
afternoon, was it in Brussels or Berlin? ...And when I say ’we’, who exactly
was there with me?!

Hi there,
I'm typing this post as I'm sitting in my mom's kitchen. I arrived back home two days ago and I'm enjoying this wonderful slow pace of life. Before I get down to work, though, as the main reason for this comeback is data collection I have to do for my thesis. I will be taking a week off now - you cannot imagine how happy that makes me feel, haha :) Here are the usual Friday links to keep you entertained this weekend.

I've noticed lately that healthy lifestyle is becoming more and more popular - which is supergreat, of course! People are getting hooked on exercise (I haven't gotten there yet, but hopefully I will!), riding bicycles instead of using cars and/or public transport, visiting farmers' markets for fresh fruits and veggies instead of getting those in large chain supermarkets... or growing their own food. As someone whose mother has grown her own veggies ever since I can remember, I find it quite funny that it's so hip nowadays - especially when I remember that her veggies had never looked as good as the one in the supermarket, so of course a kid would prefer a better looking bell pepper... (because the kid knows nothing).
